Muna Subba
From an early age, I was immersed in spiritual practices shared within my family home—fasting during the holy month of Shravana to honor Lord Shiva, praying to our books during Saraswati Puja, and observing the subtle shifts in nature during moon days. These rituals instilled in me a profound connection to the divine, and perhaps it was through these firm foundations that the seeds of yoga were planted.
My first step on the path of yoga began when I was a student in college. We were introduced to simple pranayama and meditation practices, which had a profound impact on my life. These initial experiences opened a doorway to a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection, setting the stage for my continued exploration of yoga.
In 2013, I discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, which became my guide for several years. The eightfold path, combined with a dedicated daily practice, offered me a way to clear stress and stay centered amidst the demands of a busy corporate life.
Over time, yoga became an extension of my sacred traditions, a way to honor the rhythms of nature and spirituality through movement, breath, and stillness. Whether through mantra chanting, meditation on deities, or aligning my practice with lunar cycles, yoga continues to be a living expression of those early rituals, deepening my awareness and devotion.
As my practice deepened, I felt a growing pull to explore it on a more profound level.
In 2016, I made my first journey to Mysore, India, to study the traditional method of Ashtanga Yoga under the guidance of Smt. R. Saraswathi Jois and Shri R. Sharath Jois at K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute, Mysore.
This experience opened new dimensions of learning, leading me to further my practice with Sharmila Desai at Ashtanga Yoga Morjim, Goa.
Beyond the physical practice, I have also immersed myself in the study of philosophy and chanting, learning one-on-one from my teacher through direct transmission in the lineage of Shri T. Krishnamacharya and Shri T.K.V. Desikachar. For the past six years, this exploration has deepened my understanding of yoga as a holistic path, enriching both my practice and my teaching.
I started teaching Vinyasa Yoga in 2017, and since 2019, I have been sharing the practice of Ashtanga Yoga with those seeking a deeper, more disciplined approach. The flow and sequencing of the series offer powerful tools for healing, growth, and cultivating a deeper connection to the self. It is a true privilege and joy to offer this sacred tradition.

"When a student is ready, the teacher will appear."
With deepest gratitude and reverence towards all my teachers whom I have been fortunate to meet in this lifetime and helped with my journey, I dedicate my teachings and practice to all of them.
And to my first Guru, Lord Shiva,
whose blessings made all of this possible.
ॐ नम: शिवाय ।।
